The EURON/EUnited Robotics Technology Transfer Award is jointly presented each year in recognition of outstanding achievements in EUropean robot technology.
This year the jury - a team of six robotics experts coming from academia and industry - received seven applications of high quality. Three finalists were invited to present their technology transfer products during the EURON II Annual Meeting on 28 March 2008 in Prague.
The three winners are:
1. Price: ROBOTECH (Italy) – for I-Droid 01, small edutainment robot (which can be seen in the picture attached)
2. Price: Bluebotics (Switzerland) for ANT (Autonomous Navigatin Technology)
3. Price: DELFOi (Sweden) for Cost Efficient Drilling
Industry representatives met in Brussels with Commissioner Verheugen for a high level dinner debate on November 6th entitled: "Positioning Europe's Mechanical Industry globally: what are the implications and what strategy is needed for the sector?"
Most important topic was the negotiations for a Community Patent, long overdue to nurture European innovation.
Furthermore, EUnited members put forward the shortage of skilled workers and graduates in the engineering industry and called for a reform of school and unisversity education to attract more students to the engineering professions.
Many service robot suppliers followed EUnited Robotics’ invitation to the special event “European Service Robotics – Teaming up for a Growth Market” held on 19 June 2007 in Brussels.
EUnited Robotics Chairman Stefan Mueller feels the need to join forces of all robotics stakeholders in Europe in order to achieve the maximum efficiency on the robotics markets worldwide. Therefore EUnited Robotics took decisive steps to expand its services and membership into service robotics, a fast developing market, and invited the service robotics community to join EUnited Robotics. “We are looking forward to serve also companies being active in the field of service robotics” said Stefan Mueller. He is convinced that EUnited Robotics can and will play an important role giving robotics the attention it deserves in the media and in everyone´s perception.
